Embracing new beginnings at Transition Camp

Group of students posing outside of William S. Hackett Middle School

Middle school brings exciting changes, and our new students starting at William S. Hackett Middle School this fall are ready to go, thanks to a successful three-day experience facilitated by our dedicated faculty and staff!

From Aug. 24-26, approximately 100 rising sixth and seventh grade students had the opportunity to explore their new school environment through fun and engaging activities designed to alleviate the stresses that come with new beginnings.

Students toured the building, practiced entry and security procedures, participated in a hands-on tutorial to open their combination locks and even got to ride a CTDA bus! A special shoutout to the CDTA trainers who delivered practical and informative sessions on how to utilize public transit safely and effectively.

Families and students in grades 6-8 are invited to join us for our summer orientation event on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Hackett Middle School.

The program will begin with a general session in the auditorium to review academic expectations. Student schedules and locker assignments will be provided, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming school year. We hope to see you there!
