Falcon creativity soars
Our Albany High students have wowed us with their creativity in the arts over the past several weeks. On Thursday, April 10, students in Theresa Story's media arts class excelled at the 2025 Capital Region Media Arts Festival. Congratulations to Bekim Spelling, Akeela Robertson, Leo Connell, Ian Roach and Jadyn Hardy for being recognized at the event for their talent!
In honor of Earth Day on April 22, our Falcons studying world languages took to the sidewalks to create with phrases in French, Spanish and Chinese. Their creations brought a lot of joy to our school community!
Falcons fly to SkillsUSA State Championship
We are thrilled that five Falcons—Angelica Diaz, Sean Dwyer, Giovanni Flores-Ortega, Delee Ford and Lunesta Santacruz—traveled to Syracuse this week to represent Albany High at the SkillsUSA New York State Championships. Check out this article to learn more about the competition!

On Tuesday, 21 Albany High students were inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society! Along with existing members, the new inductees put on an incredible recital, showcasing their mastery of music performance.
The following day, we kicked off our spring concert season with our . Congratulations to our Falcon Consort, Albanettes, Troubadours, B Flats and Jazzmanian Devils for an outstanding night of music, and a big thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the show!

Biotech Lunch & Learn
On Tuesday, Julie A. Friot, Ph.D., and Donna Baron, Ph.D., from Hudson Valley 番茄社区 College led an engaging Lunch and Learn workshop at Albany High School focused on biotechnology. During this interactive session, students were invited to participate in activities at various stations, utilizing laboratory instruments. Check out this article to learn more!
Falcons battle against the Blackbirds
Despite a tough loss to the Blackbirds on Tuesday evening, our varsity boys' lacrosse team had some shining moments, including two exciting goals by Pearse Sagaas and 21 saves by Jack Colman. Check out photos from the game in our .
Make your community service hours count!
Falcons, please continue to log your community service hours in the under the experience tracking tab. Hours accumulate and can be entered for students in grades 9-12.
Seniors: remember that community service hours equal cords to be worn at graduation to honor your dedication to giving back to your community.
- Bronze cords signify two to 50 hours of community service.
- Silver cords signify 51 to 100 hours of community service.
- Gold cords signify 101 or more hours of community service.
Cords will be distributed when you receive your caps and gowns prior to graduation practice in June. If you need assistance in logging hours or have questions, please see your guidance counselor or stop by the Citizenship Academy office to see Ms. Lawyer.
Equipping our Falcons for higher education
- On Wednesday, Albany High students had the incredible opportunity to engage with representatives from thirty-six different colleges, institutes, schools and universities from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Vermont at our 2025 College Fair! - We also want to share a friendly reminder to students and families about a scholarship workshop hosted at the Albany Public Library on Tuesday, April 29. for more details!
- The Guidance Department will offer a FAFSA help session on Friday, May 2, for families who need assistance completing the FAFSA/TAP applications for college financial aid. This session will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Albany High School College and Career Center, and an appointment is required. Complete this to register.
Junior Prom and Senior Prom tickets
- Juniors, you have until Friday, May 2 to purchase your tickets for prom! Prom is Saturday, May 17. Tickets are $75 and purchasing information is available in .
- Seniors, prom tickets go on sale this coming Monday, April 28! Prom is Saturday, June 14. Tickets are $75 and purchasing information is available in.
Please note that for our students who cannot celebrate in mixed company for cultural reasons, there will be a designated space at the venue for female students who would like to take part in the prom festivities at both the junior prom and the senior prom! Please be advised that tickets are non-refundable and can be purchased at the Box Office in the main lobby at Albany High School.
Free formalwear for Falcons
We want to help our Falcons look their best for their upcoming prom! Our next formalwear giveaway is Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Falcon Center at Albany High. to see the April schedule for all our formalwear giveaway dates and times.
Our Falcon Boutique continues to collect formalwear donations such as dresses, blazers, suits, tuxes, shoes, dress pants and accessories to distribute to our students. New and gently used items can be dropped at our main entrance on Washington Avenue 9 a.m.-2 p.m. If you are interested in making a financial contribution to help provide access to formalwear for our Falcons or if you have any other questions, please contact Joey DiPiazza at jdipiazza@albany.k12.ny.us.

On Thursday, Albany Police Department's school resource officers Nicole Reddix, Nick Schuler and Brian Mascaro were . Officers Reddix, Schuler and Mascaro play a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive environment within our schools. Thank you to Pastor David Traynham and his team for continuing to collaborate with the Albany Police Department to build trust between the community and law enforcement.

National Technical Honor Society Induction
On Friday, 65 Albany High students in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program were inducted into Chapter 4667 of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)! Students qualify for membership if they have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, focus on a CTE pathway or major, have one or more faculty recommendations and participate in work-based learning, job shadowing or internship opportunities. County champs two years in a row!
The verdict is in: Albany High holds the title of Mock Trial county champions for the second year in a row! On Tuesday evening, our Falcons faced off against Albany Academy and won! Now 5-0, they will compete in the regional tournament in Schenectady county on Saturday, April 26. Check out our news story to learn more!
2025 Stock Market Challenge
Three Albany High teams placed in the top ten last Thursday at the 2025 Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge, where some 400 aspiring financiers took part in the annual simulation of stock market trading. Albany High teams took fourth, seventh and eighth place among the 129 teams competing from 11 area high schools. to see photos from the challenge and read our news story for additional information!

Spring sports highlights
Our Falcons have wowed us this week with amazing performances, despite many postponed games due to weather conditions.
Varsity baseball pitcher Donovan Prim blew us away with a no-hitter against Schenectady at Wednesday night's game!
Our outdoor track and field athletes on the boys' varsity team and girls' varsity team delivered impressive performances at Wednesday's dual meet against Colonie and Columbia, including a first-place finish for both our boys' and our girls' 4x800 team! Online Success Program: Spring Recess Schedule
Albany High School’s Online Success Center Program gives students the opportunity to earn back course credit and ultimately enhance their academic achievement. Regular hours are held every school day in room 1311 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. with special Spring Recess hours. Students must enroll to participate. Undercover Spirit Week
Shh.... it's a secret! Thanks to Operations Principal Kandie Antonetti, our teachers and staff had the opportunity to take part in "Undercover Spirit Week" leading into our Spring Recess! The themes were "wear all black day," "dress like a student day," "sports day," "anything but a cup day," and "tropical day." Quarter 4 grades
As we begin Quarter 4, please be reminded that, per our grading policy shared on all course syllabi at the start of the school year, students will receive their actual grade for this marking period. The policy states: “The minimum marking period grade assigned to a student will be a 55% except for the final marking period. The final marking period grade will be the actual grade.” We encourage all students to stay focused and finish the year strong!
