Safety updates
The safety of everyone in our school community and throughout the City School District of Albany is a top priority. This week there was a safety threat on Monday, Jan. 6 outside of the Abrookin Career and Technical Center and a safety threat on Thursday, Jan. 9 at Albany High. In both situations, our staff responded swiftly and effectively to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.
Today, Friday, Jan. 10, counseling staff was available to support students, and increased security measures were in place at Albany High and Abrookin. Please be reminded all students go through routine security measures upon entering campus.

Triumph on the court
Last Saturday, our varsity girls’ basketball team faced off against Section IV opponent Binghamton at home. Our Falcons defeated the Patriots, 65-38! to see photos from the game and check out our news story to read more about Saturday's game. After Thursday night’s away game, senior Azera Gates is 24 points away from achieving 1,000 points in her varsity career! Come cheer on Gates and our Falcons at The Nest this Saturday! Tip off is at 1 p.m.
National Honor Society Induction
On Monday, 109 Albany High seniors had the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Arista Chapter of the National Honor Society in recognition of their individual academic achievement. A Taste of Afghanistan
Here at Albany High, our school community thrives on its rich diversity, and one vibrant avenue for students to explore the various cultures represented is through the International Club. This week, our club members enjoyed a presentation about Afghanistan, followed by a delicious tasting session of Afghan dishes. to see photos from the event and read our news story to learn more!
Diving into innovation
On Monday, approximately 25 Albany High students gathered for a day-long strategy and brainstorming session, mapping out and presenting potential designs and features for the robot they will invent and build for the upcoming REFFSCAPE competition. to see photos and read our news story to learn more.
Empowering gatherings on Jan. 15
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, there will be two excellent opportunities—one for students and one for parents/guardians—to gain important knowledge which will help empower them to work with others to create safer spaces in our schools and community.

For students: Student Government is hosting the No Place for Hate – The Importance of Allyship gathering to elevate student voices with the goal of reflecting on identity, diversity and social justice. Albany High students are invited to attend during their lunch period to discover how they can make our school a safe, more welcoming place for everyone!

For parents/guardians: A 番茄社区 workshop “” will be hosted at Albany High in the library from 7-8 p.m.

- The last senior photo session will take place Jan. 21-Jan. 23. Any seniors who have not signed up yet are encouraged to book their session as soon as possible!

Regents Week
Regents exams will be held from Jan. 21-Jan. 24. Visit our calendar event to view the full testing schedule.
Please note for the morning tests, students are asked to arrive between 8-8:15 a.m.
For the afternoon tests, students are asked to arrive between noon-12:15 p.m.
Students should bring their ID and a pen/pencil. Meals will be available for students who are on campus for their exam(s), and students who are in extended time rooms will have a meal delivered to them.
Students only need to report to school on the days they have a scheduled Regents exam. After they have completed their exam(s), students should leave school.

During Regents Week, the Online Success Program will be open normal hours Tuesday, Jan. 21-Friday, Jan. 24 for students who are participating in this program.

Falcon kindness in the news
On Dec. 24, Channel 6 featured Albany High in their Excellence in Education news series! The story focused on the innovative and impactful services provided to students and families through our onsite food pantry, clothing boutique and school store. to view the news story and read the accompanying article. We continue to have a need for coats, hats and gloves for our students and families, as well as athletic wear for our student-athletes. Donations can be dropped off at the main entrance on Washington Avenue during the school day.
Fantastic first quarter
We wrapped up 2024 with a special celebration on Dec. 20 for our 854 students who either made Principal's List or Honor Roll for the first quarter of the 2024-25 academic year. Read our news story to learn more and showcasing their certificates!
Soaring to new heights over break
On Dec. 21, our boys' indoor track team competed at the JAMBAR Coaches Hall of Fame Invite at The Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City. Our student-athletes had a stellar performance, including a meet record long jump by Samir Gardner. Read the news story for more details!
Curriculum Night
We kicked off 2025 with Curriculum Night on Jan. 2, a gathering designed to showcase all of the amazing course offerings at Albany High. For those who attended, it was a fantastic opportunity to have an interactive overview of our Albany High Curriculum. Families are encouraged to review from the event, which includes helpful details, such as contact information for school counselors, a timeline for when students will be choosing their courses for the upcoming academic year and overview slides for each department showcasing the breadth and variety of courses available. Students and families are encouraged to review the Albany High course offerings to gain a better understanding of what courses they'd like to consider including in their schedule for next year.
Lunch and Learn: civil service workshop
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, all Albany High students are invited to attend a Lunch and Learn assembly during their designated lunch period to learn about New York State civil service positions. The City of Albany Department of Civil Services will facilitate a presentation highlighting career opportunities available, as well as internship programs designed for college students seeking to gain valuable experience during post-secondary studies.

Attention seniors! If you have not yet had your senior photo taken for the 2024-25 Prisms yearbook, please sign up as soon as possible. The last photo sessions will take place Tuesday, Jan 21.-Thursday, Jan., 23. View our calendar event for additional details.
