Albany High senior Kailas Bouget has been named a finalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Competition!

Bouget's outstanding score on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) placed him in the top 1% of the 1.3 million juniors from approximately 20,000 high schools who took the exam nationwide.

This week, Bouget was presented with a Certificate of Merit from the National Merist Scholarship Corporation by Principal Jodi Commerford in recognition of advancing to finalist standing.

Of the 15,000 finalists, approximately 6,870 will be chosen as Merit Scholarship winners later this spring based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
