The following message is from Albany High School Principal Jodi Commerford:
I am writing with an update about ticket reservations for our graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026.
Upon reflection and after receiving feedback from many families, we are expanding the number of tickets available for each graduate to 15. We apologize for any concerns or questions our previous communication on this topic may have caused.
Our goal every year at graduation is to provide a joyous celebration that our seniors can share with their loved ones. That certainly is our intention and our plan for the Class of 2026. We also work to ensure that the event is safe and that we have appropriate security measures in place, both on our own and in partnership with MVP Arena and local law enforcement officials.
You may be aware that a fight occurred outside the arena following last year’s graduation ceremony. While this situation outside the arena was initiated by a person from the community and had nothing to do with our ceremony inside the arena, it did prompt us to review our security procedures, and to consider additional steps, again in partnership with arena officials and Albany County.
Assuring that everyone who attends our ceremony is there to celebrate one of our graduates has been among our top priorities in this planning. That is why we are issuing tickets for the event this year. Everyone attending the event at MVP Arena on Sunday, June 28 will be required to have a ticket to enter.
You can visit our Class of 2026 Graduation page to reserve your tickets. If you already filled out the ticket form following our previous communication on this topic Feb. 17, we ask that you kindly re-submit your Google Form with the complete list of names. We will update your ticket reservation accordingly up to as many as 15 guests.
The Class of 2026 Graduation page also includes details about ordering your student's cap and gown, and other important information. We will continue to update the page as we get closer to our seniors’ big day.
Thank you as always for your patience and support. We are looking forward to celebrating this wonderful milestone in your child's life with you in June.
