Picture day is coming up at Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST), and nine students are ready to go, thanks to our incredibly talented cosmetology and barbering students at Albany High School!
On Wednesday, TOAST students spent the morning getting glammed up in the Albany High cosmetology salon. Under the guidance of cosmetology teachers LaQuita Love and Cory Nardin, 20 students taking Barbering I, Barbering II and Cosmetology II worked together to deliver clipper cuts, flat twists, ponytails, cornrows with beads, curls, bubble braids and more!

"Being able to help elementary students fix their hair for picture day was very special and meaningful to me," shared junior Zion Morely.
In addition to fresh haircuts and styles, TOAST students also enjoyed getting their nails painted in their favorite colors — and they even got the opportunity to give the high school students a manicure!
Not only did this experience help our elementary students feel at ease about their upcoming school picture day, it was a superb way for our Falcons to put into practice what they have been studying in class day in and day out.
"As teachers, we are working to help our students build their confidence so that they can get on the floor and actually practice some of these skills," shared Love.
"Especially the next day in class after the activity, we can see their confidence grow, and they actually become a little more daring as they dive into future projects."
Congratulations to everyone involved in this unique learning experience!
