Last week, seniors gained valuable insights on the topic of voting through dynamic and thought-provoking lessons led by our Albany High civics teachers!
Amanda Weklar, Jessie LaPolla, Graham Wall and Pete Anderson covered a variety of topics with students, such as voting requirements, early voting, voter registration, absentee ballots, political parties, opportunities to be a poll worker and more!
During the lesson, our Falcons had the chance to walk through all the sections of a voter registration form with the support of their teacher. Those who are eligible to register to vote were also invited to complete the form to be turned into the Albany County Board of Elections.
Students also engaged with materials provided by the League of Women Voters of Albany County, which included many helpful tips and resources.
A special thanks to our advanced placement government teacher Sean Fitzsimons and Secondary Instructional Supervisor for Social Studies and World Languages Robert LaCasse for organizing this excellent lesson, equipping our students to be civic-minded and actively engaged in local, state and national elections.
