Homecoming Weekend 2026 was an amazing two days of celebration, and we are grateful to all the students, faculty and staff, coaches, community leaders, alumni, family members and friends who made this an unforgettable experience for our Falcons!
Our festivities kicked off with a spirited on Friday afternoon and continued with a girls' varsity soccer game and girls' junior varsity tennis game after school, as well as a boys' varsity soccer game in the early evening. It was an exciting evening for Albany soccer as our girls' team tied Saugerties 0-0 and our boys' team secured a 4-0 victory over Albany Academy!
Saturday morning events began with our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony where we celebrated our new inductees for the Class of 2026: LaQuetta Alexander '07, John Antonio '67, Andre Goodbee '97, Jahkeen Hoke '06, Ta-Sean Murdock, Richard Ostroff '78, Ellen Stutzman '99 and Nancy Sutin '68.
Our sports competitions kicked off at 10 a.m. with varsity and junior varsity volleyball, modified football and girls' varsity tennis. Congratulations to our girls' varsity tennis team on a resounding 7-0 win over Troy!
This year's Homecoming Parade brought lots of smiles all around, and it was heartwarming to see so many groups participate, including our Marching Falcons, JROTC, fall sports teams, youth sports organizations, student representatives from our elementary schools and more!
Following the parade, a special dedication ceremony was held for the three gorgeous stained-glass windows from the very first Albany High building. Check out our Winter 2026 edition of Capital Education to read more about these incredible works of art that are now enjoyed every day by thousands of Albany High students, staff and faculty members thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Board of Education, school district leaders, community volunteers and a modern generation of Albany High students.
Leading up to the football game kickoff, the midway outside the stadium was packed as everyone enjoyed checking out the fundraising booths hosted by our athletic teams and Albany High clubs! Falcon fans enjoyed seeing our beautiful senior banners on display, thanks to the generosity of our Albany Booster Club members and sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the community partners who showed up and provided valuable information and resources to our attendees.
Prior to kickoff, our Albany High Chamber Choir opened the varsity football game with a beautiful performance of the Star-Spangled Banner and junior Myajae Marrero sang a gorgeous rendition of Lift E'vry Voice and Sing. The Sergeant Henry Johnson Battalion JROTC presented the colors with poise and professionalism.
During halftime, Albany High's cheerleading team and majorettes put on incredible performances. Our Falcon fans had a blast cheering our football team on to a 12-8 victory over Guilderland, and we are immensely proud of their determination and grit on the field.
Last, but certainly not least, our Falcons had a blast hanging out and dancing the night away at our Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening.
