The rapid expansion of AI is an important and ever-evolving topic in education and throughout our society. The City School District of Albany upholds a human-centered approach to the use of technology: human relationships, professional teacher expertise and student voice remain the heart of instruction in all of our schools.

With that in mind, we are taking several steps at the start of this new school year to share information with our families and encourage a continued conversation about these subjects:

• The district’s IT staff held an Aug. 24 informational meeting on AI and educational technology use in our schools, and we are planning more engagement opportunities, including additional community forums and parent meetings.
• We have created an online FAQ section that discusses a wide range of topics, practices and guidance related to AI use and educational technology in our schools
  • We will continue to update these FAQs moving forward. If you do not see your questions addressed, you can use the form at the bottom of the FAQ pate to send them our way
• The FAQ page also includes that offers an overview on these topics.
