Thanks to a local community knitting group, Chicks with Sticks of Glenmont, New York, our students at Albany High have access to beautifully handcrafted winter gear free of cost at the Falcon Market!

Founding member Jody Mason, along with three fellow knitters, visited the Falcon Market on Tuesday to drop off a generous donation of hand-knit hats, cowls, scarves, ear warmers and mittens with a matching hat.

In total, the donation included 109 individually knit pieces, thoughtfully labeled with washing and drying instructions. Each item is constructed with high quality fibers, such as merino wool, and there are an array of patterns and colors to choose from!

Dorah Rosenzweig has been volunteering with this non-profit group for over a decade and was thrilled to support our Falcons and their families.

"My ability to knit — it's so wonderful to share that with people who might not have hand-knit woolies to take them through the winter, Rozensweig shared. "It's really just a joy for us to knit for kids."

We are so thankful for these generous community members who have engaged their talents to help students stay cozy and warm when the temperatures begin to drop.

The Falcon Market is a completely free resource open to Albany High students and their families. It includes a boutique and food pantry that provides reliable access to fresh food for students and their families.
