The City School District of Albany is seeking parents or guardians to serve on the district-wide Health and Safety Committee, which monitors the condition of all buildings to assure they are safe and maintained properly.
Committee volunteers will join district employees in the following activities:
- Participate in the investigation and disposition of health and safety complaints
- Consult with district officials in completing safety ratings of all occupied school buildings
- Assist with creation of the district's five-year facilities plan
- Monitor safety during school construction projects, including periodic meetings to review issues and address complaints related to health and safety resulting from the project
- Upon completion of a construction project, conduct a walkthrough inspection to ensure the area is ready to be reopened for use

The Board of Education is scheduled to consider the parent or guardian committee appointments at its Oct. 8 meeting. Following that step, the first meeting with the new members will be Oct. 15.
