Eight Albany High School seniors—Susie Hai, Adamarys Viveros, Anna Ustin, Karma Jernigan, Yanaiza Correa Fredericks, Sanaya Brown, Hailey Farrell and Sienna Stewart —had the honor of ushering in the seventy-eighth annual Tulip Festival along with city officials and Albany Mayor Dr. Dorcey L. Applyrs, on Friday afternoon.
Dressed in authentic Dutch clothing, complete with wooden shoes, our Falcons proudly carried bouquets of tulips to celebrate the Dutch heritage of the City of Albany prior to scrubbing State Street to officially launch the festivities for the weekend.
We extend our gratitude to The City Club of Albany, Inc. for their invaluable contribution in providing the beautifully maintained Dutch outfits worn by our Falcons. We also thank Albany High art teachers Kristine Monahan and Ashleigh Harris Johns for their role in carrying on this beloved tradition.
