Students and teachers in our Albany High Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program had the incredible opportunity to connect with New York State Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon on Thursday!
Commissioner Reardon’s visit was one stop of many around the state during National Apprenticeship Week. Throughout the week, she has been focused on bringing greater awareness about apprenticeship opportunities in New York State that help open the doors to careers in a variety of industries.
During her time at Albany High, Commissioner Reardon spoke with both students and teachers, and asked thoughtful questions about areas of strength they see in CTE, as well as barriers that currently exist for those who desire to pursue a career in the trades. Students enjoyed sharing feedback and showcasing their skills. Our health science students even gave Commissioner Reardon a crash course in how to use a stethoscope!
Commissioner Reardon presented our Director of Career and Technical Education, Maggie Palmeri, with a certification honoring Albany High as a distinguished pathway partner in celebration of our school’s efforts to pave a way for a skilled and thriving workforce through our CTE programming.
Albany High is proud to offer 21st-century CTE programming that ranges from students taking single classes in an area of interest to completing a career pathway. Visit our Career and Technical Education page of the website to learn more.
