Robotics club gears up for 2026 competition

Students collaborating together during day-long brainstorming session

The Albany High FIRST Robotics Team #1493 gathered on Monday to gear up for the 2026 FIRST Robotics Competition REBUILT!

Club members participated in an intensive,  to discuss the design and programming elements that should be incorporated into this year's robot.

Teamwork and ingenuity are foundational elements of the club members' innovative process, and we are grateful for the faithful guidance and expertise of club advisors Kevin Allen, Brent Cady, Andre Castagna and Rich Kissane. Our robotics club has 40 participants, and students typically specialize in either mechanical or programming as their area of focus.

From now until April, our Falcons will dedicate countless hours to designing, building, programming, and practicing with their robot in preparation for the New York Tech Valley Regional. This event will be held from April 16-18 at the MVP Arena in Albany, featuring 56 teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Turkey. It promises to be an exciting opportunity for our students to showcase their technical and strategic skills.
