Shonyae Edmonds dominated inside with 15 points and 13 rebounds Thursday night to lead the Albany High School girls’ basketball team to a 46-34 win over Bethlehem in the Section 2 Class AA quarterfinals.
Cassidy Foley contributed nine points – all on 3-pointers – and Me’Challe Cancer added eight points and four assists. Edmonds (pictured) also had three assists as the third-seeded Falcons (15-6) won for the ninth time in their last 10 games.
Albany High advances to the semifinals next Thursday, March 3, at Hudson Valley ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø College. The Falcons, ranked No. 24 in the state, will meet the winner of Thursday night’s quarterfinal between No. 2 Shaker and No. 7 Saratoga.
Shaker, currently ranked No 23 in the state, is the only team to beat Albany High during its current streak, a 56-45 decision Jan. 20.
