Secretary of State visits Albany High barber shop
A huge thank you to New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley for spending time with our next generation of barbers at Albany High on Dec. 3!
Mosley stopped by for a haircut and shared words of encouragement and inspiration with our students, urging them to boldly embrace the opportunities at hand.
“I’m just pleased and honored to know you guys are taking initiative to identify your passion, to do everything necessary to make that passion translate to something tangible and beneficial, not only for yourselves, but for your families and for your community,” he said.
Falcons brighten the holidays
Our incredible Albany High Falcons helped make a huge success!
Thank you to our JROTC cadets, culinary students, Albanettes and Troubadours – along with our staff members – who braved the cold to help spread holiday cheer at this festive event Dec. 5!
Falcon Market ribbon-cutting ceremony
We were thrilled to celebrate the expanded and newly christened Falcon Market at Albany High on Dec. 12!
The Falcon Market is an inviting space that includes a free clothing boutique and food pantry that will provide reliable access to fresh food for thousands of students and their families.
Through the Market 32 Cares initiative, Market 32 and Price Chopper invested more than $15,000 in the Falcon Market, donating and installing two industrial-grade refrigeration units, built-in shelving that they helped install and lots of food items to stock the shelves.
Newcomer project wins statewide spotlight
Congratulations to Albany International Academy fifth-grader Wail Satouf, who took first place in a statewide multimedia contest celebrating the people and things that matter most to him at school!
Wail and his family arrived from Syria via Jordan just a year ago, and he’s already making incredible strides as he learns English. His project was selected by the New York State Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, which showcased his work at its annual November conference.
Great job, Wail!
A wonderful winter concert season
Be sure to visit our district and accounts to take a look at all the photos and videos showcasing our incredibly talented students performing at winter concerts around the district before the holiday break!
Congratulations to all, and thank you to our dedicated music staff, along with all the family and friends coming out to support our students and music in our schools!
Falcons meet change-makers at civics fair
When civic-minded leaders gather in one room, great things happen!
Albany High’s civics fair teamed up our seniors with local leaders to discuss important topics, such as literacy, mental health, animal protection, education, civil rights, transportation, voting, violence prevention, agroecology and more!
Through this experience, our Falcons forged valuable connections with community organizations that can support them as they develop their senior capstone projects for civics class.
Fall student-athletes recognized with honors
Our Albany High student-athletes enjoyed a superb fall season, and we are excited to celebrate the 28 Falcons who received postseason recognition for their excellence in the fall sports season.
Be sure to read our full news story for a list of all our Falcons who earned these well-deserved recognitions!
